Homes for Waianae Homeless: Update

In a previous release (Click here to read the article) , the city of Waianae contracted Hawaii Modular Space, in collaboration with Whitley Evergreen, Marysville, WA, to design and build three homes that would serve the needs of the homeless. Recently (October 21, 2016), according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser, the homes were showcased at a press conference with city officials and mayor Kirk Caldwell to commence the opening of the homes and a new approach to the homeless problems facing Waianae.

Were standing here in a place thats been reborn, a place thats about the future and about giving hope to families of this area, Caldwell said Friday. We want to see how its (modular housing units) received and how its managed and how its used so that perhaps we can do this in other parts of the island.
